September 1, 1999 an other tour will commence for the OKROS Ensemble with
some excellent guests Sandor Fodor 'Neti', Kalman Balogh and Agi Szaloki.
Agi will be here for the first time on this continent. We want to call
your attention to this event. Overla pping and immediately following the
OKROS tour, Kalman Balogh and his famous Gypsy Cimbalom Band will be
appearing, in some concerts together, with the OKROS. Every venue
promises to be a special and very exciting event.

THE OKROS ENSEMBLE needs no introduction to folk music lovers. We stopped
counting how many time they performed on this continent. This tour is a
follow up to their 1998 successful performances with two major symphonic
orchestras [the Brooklyn Philharmoni c and the New World Symphony of
Miami]. On this tour they will appear with yet two other major
Orchestras: The Cascade Festival Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Murry
Sidlin and the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Wolfgang
Sawallisch. Both orc hestras are special on the North American music
scene, but the Philadelphia Orchestra is one of the most respected
ensembles in the world. Imagine, both of these symphonies wanted to show
their audiences the authentic sources of folk music which inspired great
composers such as Bartok, Kodaly, Brahms and others. The Philadelphia
appearance is even more significant, because the Orchestra will celebrate
its, and one of its most loved conductor, Eugene Ormandy's 100th
birthday. What an event these will be; if you can participate please do
so.

On both venues Bela Kasa's photographic exhibit of "Transylvanian
Musicians" will enhance the understanding of these concerts and Hungarian
folk music with visual documentation.

The OKROS will feature Sandor Fodor 'Neti', the last surviving great
violinist from the Kalotaszeg Region; Kalman Balogh, who is one of the
best cimbalom player in the world; and Agi Szaloki, folk singer, who is
an upcoming star in Hungary.

We all heard, enjoyed and marveled on tape or CD Kalman Balogh and his
Gypsy Cimbalom Band. We hoped to hear it in a live concert some day.
Overlapping and immediately following the OKROS tour the Balogh Cimbalom
Band will tour in North America. This is t heir first appearance on this
continent. Many believes that this Band found a form of folk music
interpretation which will appeal to future generations. True or not,
Kalman's fantastic talent and the unbelievable musicianship of his band
members offer and evening of folk music which is not easily forgotten and
is immensely enjoyable.
