JOB TITLE: Grants Assistant EPP
EMPLOYER: Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern
Europe
LOCATION: Szentendre, Hungary
REPORT TO: Regional Program Manager and Grants Manager
PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The Environmental Partnership Program (EPP) is a US AID-funded,
five-year project of targeted grant support to promote market-based
solutions to environmental problems and environmental partnerships
among various stakeholders (primarily local authorities and
businesses) in the CEE and NIS countries and the United States. The
project will be managed by the US based Institute for International
Education (IIE) and the Regional Environmental Center (REC).
SUMMARY:
Grants Assistant will be responsible for monitoring implementation of
EPP Challenge grants, and assisting Grants manager in developing the
required grant procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Taking part in the implementation of the Challenge Grants Program,
according to the EPP procedures and manuals
o Assist the EPP staff in preparing and circulating documents related
to the program
o Keeping the Grants files and the Grants Management System updated
o Reviewing the incoming applications for formal financial criteria
and completeness
o Registration of incoming proposals in written and electronic form
o Assuring the proper administrative formalities for closing
finalized projects of grantees
o Taking care of standard communication with grantees, such as
rejection letters, awarding letters, reply to standard information
requests on EPP etc.
o Provide technical assistance in organizing meetings, such as the
Evaluation meeting, Winners meeting etc. and serving guests of EPP
staff
o Based upon request provide technical assistance to other Grants
Department staff
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
o Administrative - Economics secondary education
o Fluency in English and Hungarian
o Good working knowledge of Windows Office, including Excel, Word
etc. and databases
o Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
o Experience in CEE/NIS countries
o Flexibility in handling new challenges
o Experience with working in a multicultural environment
