Constantin Donea > writes:

>For God's sake, how many Hungarians live in Transylvania?? Soon there'll

It is interesting that Mr. Constantin Donea, failing to comprehend the message
Hungarian-Americans wish to send to their Congressmen and their President upon
the impending visit of President Iliescu to Washington, concentrates instead on
the pricise number
 of Hungarians living in Romania.

The original message, I believe listed 2.5 million Hungarians. Perhaps Mr.
Donea would do us all the favor of researching the precise number. Perhaps we
will all find out that the exact number is slightly smaller or even larger,
depending on how you trea
t mixed marriages, etc.

Since the Grolier's encyclopedia lists Romania's total population in 1991
estimated at 23.25 million, it would be surprising if there are more Hungarians
living in that country than its total population.

While Mr. Donea is busy looking up his facts, the rest of us should use the
time to write, call, e-mail, etc. the President, Secretary of State Warren
Christopher and especially Congressmen Ben Gilman (chairman of the House
International Affairs Committe
e), Newt Gingrich (Speaker) and Senators Bob Dole and Jesse Helms.
Soon Romania's Most Favored Nation Status is coming up for renewal by the US
Congress. In order for Romania to retain it's status, it must show concrete,
measurable progress on this issue. As of now, Romania's refusal to accept the
European Union's stan
dard (1201), does not show her in favorable light.

To avoid any misunderstanding: I am all in favor of a democratic, free,
tolerant Romania as a friend of the US, member of NATO and the EU. Perhaps
treating it's Hungarian minority the same way as EU member Italy treats her
Austrian minority would be a go

Until then, let's us get busy and excercise our rights as citizens of the US.

+ - Muszikas U.S. tour information wanted (mind) VÁLASZ  Feladó: (cikkei)

A friend tells me that the Hungarian folk group Muszikas are now
touring the U.S., but that we have missed their New York
concert. We are both most eager to hear them play and hear
Sebestyen Marta sing!

I've checked the World Wide Web, and can find mention of them or
their tour.

Please email me information on the tour, and I'll post a
summary.

Thanks,

+ - Looking For Hungarian MATCH-MAKER (mind) VÁLASZ  Feladó: (cikkei)

I am requesting help. I am an American-Hungarian who would like to marry a
'pretty' (18-24 year old) Hungarian girl who may be interested in living in
US and perhaps even attending US university. I am willing to pay for your
assistance. I am a professional with a decent income, considered attractive,
with no bad habbits (outside of computers). Do me, yourself, and your friend
a favor, email me with information. Thank you.

GREETINGS! :) This is a call for manuscripts. Deadline 11/1/95.
Include Country of origin, length of relationship, sex. No word count
limits. FLAMERS! Pls have mercy . . .need to post to each country for a
multicultural response . . . .

This is an opportunity for your philosophies and life experiences to be
published, and for you to help others by your example. I NEED your
thoughts . . . your input . . .the world needs YOUR THOUGHTS please.
Everyone has a need to find safety, peace and fulfillment in their lives.
We all live with a vision of what our future may bring . . .relationships,
health, family values, prosperity, spirituality. So many things stand in
the way of any one of these life-visions. We need a focus; it is helpful
to have others research these things and then for us to study the
information and put it to some good use. I am writing a series of
articles on RELATIONSHIPS. These articles are about "WHAT WENT RIGHT IN
MY LOVE LIFE AND FRIENDSHIPS". I wish to compile as much as possible, the
GOOD things people do for each other. The sweet ways people help each
other. But MOST IMPORTANTLY, what did YOU DO in any successful
relationship that makes it ENDURING. Your best friend, your close loves,
your wife or husband, . . . your net pals.

Please write a sentence, a paragraph, or a page or more about what YOU
have learned about how to make a beautiful and enduring RELATIONSHIP. I
will publish your words, in your name with your permission. I will also
send you the compilation on-line when it is complete. If you contribute,
I will send you a printed copy of the completed work with a personal thank
you. I will be happy to acknowledge your contribution in the articles,
which will be republished as a book. I cannot pay for any royalties . . .
my budget is practically nil, but you will get credit and simply put, your
rewarding experience may help so many others understand how to love and
treat each other better that people will be affected by your sharing. And
I, having made so many mistakes in the past, will learn through your
words, what I should work on in the future.

I can think of no better reward than the happy contented peaceful rich
rewarding sweetness of a perfect stranger touched by your words and our
combined effort. A lovely thought, if we can do something worthwhile and
keep people together and out of divorce courts and custody battles and
lawyers offices. "WHAT WENT RIGHT IN MY LOVE LIFE AND RELATIONSHIPS" could
make a difference. PLEASE FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO ANY FRIENDS YOU THINK
MAY BE INTERESTED IN CONTRIBUTING. Post it on any bulletin board you
think would be appropriate. Please mention it on chat lines. Thank you
Thank You THANK YOU!

Specific examples may be very helpful . . . poetry and prose are welcomed
.. . .names will be changed to protect the innocent. Your response is your
permission to publish your words. If you are local (Chicago) and would
like to be interviewed, I will be happy to see you in my graphic art
studio (River North area). P.S. . . .still looking for a publisher who
shares my vision . . . this is an important work.
