The Inter-American Development Bank,
 an international organization dedicated to the
 financing of economic and social projects in the
 Latin American and Caribbean region, has an
 opening at its headquarters in Washington, DC
 for an:

              Environment Division Chief

Functions: Provides leadership and guidance to environmental
professionals of the Bank and supervises the work of a multidisciplinary
team. Oversees the development, formulation, analysis and periodic
review of environmental policies, strategies, best practices and
methodologies in the Bank's programs and operations. Promotes training
of Bank professionals in environmental and natural resources
management and related disciplines. Manages environmental quality
control and promotes the quality enhancement of Bank operations,
through input to the Bank's Environment Committee, oversight of
environmental technical review, allocation of expertise to technical
support for individual operations and strategic monitoring of
implementation of Bank-wide environmental policies, strategies, and
methodologies. Represents the Bank in inter-institutional and international
environmental fora, and oversees the Bank's contacts and cooperation
with other multilateral agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders in the
environmental area. Manages and orients the preparation and
dissemination of Bank sponsored studies, papers and publications in the
area of environmental and natural resources management.
Requirements: Education: Ph.D. or equivalent in Ecology, Natural
Resource Economics or Management, or related area. Experience: At
least 15 years of experience in functions similar to the ones described,
including a minimum of seven years at the international level. Extensive
supervisory experience is required. Position code EDC-CA.
